Wakeboarding Rope Tips

wakeboardPart of having the best possible wakeboarding experience means you having access to the right wakeboard rope, as a wakeboard rope is what will link you from the wakeboard to the boat. The importance, then, of this wakeboard role is absolutely vital to making sure that you safely enjoy this thrilling and enjoyable water sport. The first thing that you are going to need in order to enjoy this sport, which is the perfect combination between challenging and exciting, is the balance that is required in order to keep yourself steadily standing on the board while you are being pulled through the water at a truly frightening pace.

Unless you already have experience in surfing or in skiing, then you are going to need to develop some balancing skills in order to be proficient in wakeboarding. If you do not practice your balance skills, you may end up in the water a little fast. Before you begin to wakeboard as a regular, you are going to need to learn how to handle the water, which begins with learning how to lay on your back and float. Your trainer will then teach you how to get into the right position, standing on your wakeboard as the boat pulls you across the open water.

Before you buy a wakeboard rope, you are going to need to have an understanding of all of the different characteristics that a wakeboard rope is capable of possessing. You should never use any other type of rope for a wakeboarding experience, except for real wakeboard rope. Wakeboard rope needs to be capable of withstanding stretches so that you do not face any kind of recoil while you are in the air. Along with a sufficient level of stiffness, the wakeboard rope that you use should also be endowed with an adequate amount of length in order to help you along.

You are likely going to come across wakeboard rope in a variety of different lengths, measuring between 60 feet and 70 feet for example. This wakeboard rope is designed to provide convenience to riders and can be bought in whole lengths or adjustable lengths depending on your needs. The amount of elasticity present in a wakeboard rope may also be capable of varying based on the quality of the rope. Polyethylene ropes, for example, tend to stretch much more readily than ropes made from Spectra. If you are looking to perform airborne stunts, then you should be opting for a tighter variety of wakeboard rope.

If you are still developing your skills as a wake boarder, on the other hand, then you might want a shorter and more elastic rope, which will allow you to get a better feel for what you are doing without all of the recoil. Choosing the right rope is absolutely essential if you want to get the most out of your wake boarding experience next time you hit the water.

Best Products for Wakeboarding

wakeboardingWakeboarding is a sport that can actually be thought of as a combination of a number of sports: surfing along with water skiing, with a bit of snow boarding thrown in. Wakeboarding is a sport that is performed on the water surface, specifically the wake that is behind a speed boat as it is powering through. Of all of the equipment that is required to wakeboard, there are five types: bindings, wake vest, wake skates, wake ropes, and the actual wakeboard.

There are a number of features and measures that should be considered when shopping for a wakeboard. These will include the boards’ weight along with width and height, the design of the bottom, and the placement and number of the fins located on the wake board. Also important is the rocker, or overall bend in the board from front to back. These rockers come in two varieties, continuous, which is a smooth curve, or that which more closely resembles a skate board, the 3-stage. The continuous style does not change from its tail to its tip, making it a much quicker ride. The 3-stage board offers greater pop and has two relatively distinct bending points.

The length of the wakeboard is going to affect the spin speed, as well as the level of smoothness in the turns. The width of your wakeboard, especially in the middle, the tip and the tail will affect how high it is capable if sitting when it is in the water as well as how hard it can bounce during the wake. When it comes to wakeboard weight, lighter wakeboards tend to be significantly easier for you to maneuver, and the flex patterns also tend to be better, and these characteristics are responsible for affecting your landings as well as your pops.

The bottom designs of wakeboards are a feature that does not change the ride, but is important for allowing the rider to express his or her style. The bottom design on the wakeboard can possibly feature additional parts however, such as a fin, because fin placement is capable of dictating the release that will be unique to that wakeboard. You should also make sure that you are choosing the right binding, because you need to find a foot bed that corresponds well with the length of your foot, and you need to adjust to make sure that the fitting is correct. As you break in your bindings, the materials may stretch considerably so make sure to adjust them as you go in order to make sure that they are always fitting.

Another product to consider is wake skates, which allow you to ride a wakeboard as if it were a skateboard, but in the water. They come in a variety of different sizes, shapes and surfaces on top, and they do not require the use of bindings the way that wakeboards do. You would use skates shoes, and there are no real set standards here.

Wakeboarding Terms and Tips pt 2

faceplant… Continued from part 1.

If you want to understand the wakeboarding sport better, then there are a few different wakeboard glossary terms that you are going to need to be aware of. Here are some of the more important terms that you are going to want to know when it comes to effectively wakeboarding.

Lip – The top of the wake that you are riding on as a wake boarder is known as the “lip” of the wake, or the wake’s lip.

Face Plant - The face plant is a specific type of fall. The way that a face plant fall occurs is that you fall, catching your toe-side edge, and this ultimately results in you falling very quickly face forward until you go into the water face first or head first. This is generally not a good way to fall, and should be avoided because it can be extremely uncomfortable.

Bail - Upon realizing that you will be unable to complete a trick, the act of bailing has to do with giving up on the trick rather than attempting to execute it. There are definitely going to be times where a trick is not going to end up the way that you had assumed it would, or that you wanted it to happen. You may fail at a trick because you took too much air, for example, or you may fail at your trick because you lost control. Either way, sometimes bailing out of the trick becomes necessary just to make sure that you do not end up face planting.

Fakie - The term Fakie is used in order to describe a wakeboarding situation, where you are wakeboarding off of the boat in the standard riding position, but you are traveling in the opposite direction instead. This is not commonly done, simply because what is requires is that you make a change in the position of your foot. The fakie term has also been popularly replaced by another term, which is Switch stance. The switch stance term is essentially referring to a situation where the person is riding the wakeboard with their opposite foot in the forward position.

White Wash - This is the turbulent water that is found to be present in the dead center of two converging wakes. The wake itself is capable of containing whitewash, making it difficult for the wake to have hit.

Lube - This is any substance that is slippery, but when it comes to wakeboarding, lube is used to assist you in getting your feet into your bindings. There are lubes that are specifically made for this purpose, but some people simply use materials such as soap, shaving cream and Vaseline to serve as alternative lubes.

Wakeboarding Terms and Tips

wakeboardingIf you want to understand the wakeboarding sport better, then there are a few different wakeboard glossary terms that you are going to need to be aware of. Wakeboarding is a truly specialized sport, and the terms that are attached to this sport are also quite specialized. If you are not already aware of the terms that matter the most in wakeboarding, then you could find yourself facing trouble in the future. Try to get yourself familiar with these popular wakeboarding terms as soon as you possibly can, because this is going to help you out immensely when it comes to communicating your needs, your capabilities and your desires while participating in this unique and exciting sport. These terms are going to be regularly used in the process of wakeboarding, and if you do not have the proper knowledge then you are going to be unable to properly convey your messages when communicating with other wake boarders. Why participate in a sport if you are not willing to learn the language?

Here are some of the more important terms that you are going to want to know when it comes to effectively wakeboarding.

Double Up - Sometimes the boat that is pulling the wakeboard is capable of circling around and then crossing back over the wake that it just finished creating. This occurs at approximately 90 degrees, and it causes the wakes to come together or converge, which in turn results in wakes that are double their normal size. What this is known as is a double up. If the rider has the right timing when this is happening, then he or she will be able to get much more air during a double up situation than in any other situation on the water.

Ballast - When extra weight is added to the boat pulling the wakeboard, then this is known as ballast. Fitting large and heavy sacks or adding additional people to the boat is naturally going to make the boat much heavier, and this is known as a ballast. The purpose for this particular action is to help the boat be capable of causing more wakes, or causing more intense wakes. There are some boats that are specifically retrofitted with ballast systems, which are designed to fill with water, making the boat naturally heavier rather than artificially heavier, in order to create a better wake boarding experience.

Butt Check – The butt check is a specific type of position used in wakeboarding. In order for this particular position to be carried out, the wakeboard rider will lean back so that his or her bottom is touching the water, with feet out in front and arms held out straight. The purpose of this position is to keep the wakeboard rider from crashing.

Choosing the Right Board for Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding is a sport that is booming all around the world. Many people are describing this unique sport is the new age of surfing. Anyone all around the world can take advantage of wakeboarding, providing that there is a body of water nearby that can be considered suitable. In order to get started on your own personal wake boarding excursion, you need to have some basic tips in your arsenal that will make it easier and more advantageous to choose the right beginning wake board. Having the right equipment for wake boarding is absolutely vital if you want to learn how to wake board effectively. Having all of the right tools is one of the most important aspects of enjoying your wake boarding adventure, so choose right the first time and you will surely benefit.

Not all of the wake boards that you encounter while shopping around are going to be well suited for you if you are a beginner to this unique and enjoyable water sport, so it would not be wise to simply go out and buy a high quality board right from the start unless you have a good idea of what you are getting yourself into. The best and most expensive wake boards are not going to suddenly, instantaneously turn you into a better wake boarder, so don’t waste your time or money. The shape and the size of your brand new wake board are the determinant factors in whether or not you will get off to a good start, and they will also play a large part in determining how well you do the first time you hit the water.

A wake board that has squared edges is generally going to be one of the best options for beginners, because it will give you a larger amount of control, which is what someone new to the sport should be looking to achieve. You are simply going to want to learn how to gain control first before you learn any cool or interesting tricks. Learning how to wake board is all about taking baby steps and mastering each step before you move on to the next. There are also single and double tipped wake board options. Double tipped boards are ideal for beginners as they are rounded on both ends and offer a higher level of control, and they are also lighter which means that making jumps is simpler as well. You may also want to consider getting a longer board, which is generally more ideal in terms of getting better control while wake boarding.

You never go out onto a baseball field for the first time and begin to hit home runs, and wake boarding for the first time will not allow you to produce incredible tricks. You need to learn control first, and having the right wake board will allow you to achieve this as long as you are willing to take baby steps for the best control.

Surf Skate Wake Board – What’s Your Passion?

For many people, there is nothing that they find to be more exhilarating or exciting then boarding of all types. This can mean surfing, skate boarding, wake boarding and more. For many people it may e the danger that they feel or even the endorphins that they feel coursing through their skin but no matter what the reason it can turn out to be an amazing experience.

Certain individuals feel it is more than simply a hobby, although it is in fact a very popular hobby also. For some it is a career or even a life style. There are some people where simply surfing, skate boarding, wake boarding and other boarding activities is not enough but instead their life has a lot to do with the actions and the feelings that they get from the actions. Some people even chose where they are going to live based on locations that have to do with these types of actions. Some people may want to live near a skate park or others may want to be near the beach so that they would be able to surf or wake board.

For each of these actions, there are materials that are needed. For skate boarding you need to have a skate board and if there are specific tricks you want to do you may also need other parts to be replaced or be made a specific way such as the deck, the sand paper that resides on top of the board or even the wheels that you use of other parts.

With wake boarding you need to not only have your own wake board but you also need to have a boat to pull you and a driver for that boat. Lastly with a surf board you mainly need a board along with the line that attaches you to it so that you do not lose it and of course location. These can cost depending on what you need but the cost is nothing in comparison to the feelings that you get from the actual actions themselves.

For all of these different activities there are different styles such as “lefty” or “righty” and there are also a large amount of amazing tricks that would leave a person watching breathless. Some people enjoy doing these tricks while other people may feel that they are too dangerous but many people enjoy watching them to the point where there are now even professional competitions that are featured on television for people who enjoy watching them to see. Watching these competitions can also be great for people who enjoy the activities because they can learn new stunts and can learn what not to do.

Overall, you are sure to enjoy yourself, or at least learn something new that is also exciting. When doing any of these activities remember to take the proper safety precautions so that no one can get hurt. This can mean ankle straps for surfing or even sun screen or helmets and padding for skateboarding.

Wakeboarding specifically involves riding the wake of a speedboat while riding on a single board, the wakeboard. There are five different kinds of the products that you need in order to successfully wakeboard, and these products are the bindings, the wake skates, the wake vest, the wakeboard rope and the actual wakeboard itself.

When it comes to choosing the right wakeboard, there are a number of considerations that you need to make, including the rocker, the width, the length, the weight, the bottom design, the fins and the fin placement.

The bend in the wakeboard, which runs from tip to tail, is classified as the rocker. There are two different rocker types to choose from, the 3 stage rocker and the continuous rocker. Continuous rockers are smooth curves which do not change much from tip to tale and are much quicker to ride. The 3 stage rocker on the other hand can gain quite a bit more pop off of the wake, and more closely resembles a skateboard by offering two distinct bend points, though not quite as radically as a skateboard would offer.

The length of the wakeboard has an impact on the spin’s smoothness and speed. The width of the wakeboard, especially in the tip, the tail and dead center, will affect how well it sits in the water, and how hard it bounces when it comes away from the wake. With weight, the lighter wakeboards are easily to maneuver and offer better flex patterns for pops and landings.

The bottom design of a wakeboard is purely cosmetic in nature, giving the user a way to express his or her personal style as well as fine tuning and personalizing how the wakeboard rides through the water. Fins and fin placement for wakeboards dictate the release of the wakeboard. When the fins are closer to the center, the wakeboard is better and quicker when released away from the wake. When the fins are spread apart or closer to tip or tail, then the wakeboard will stay hooked into the wake for longer.

Another wakeboard product that is just as important as the wakeboard itself is the binding. You need to find a foot bed that closely matches your own foot in order to achieve the best possible fit. These materials are capable of stretching as you break them in, so eventually you may need to make regular adjustments not only to keep them in shape but also to keep them feeling proper.

Wakeskates are wakeboard products that are intended to be ridden on the water as a skateboard. They come in different sizes, shapes and surfaces and they do not require bindings in the way that traditional wakeboards do. Skate shoes are used, and there are no real set standards in the way that there are for wakeboarding.

Surf, Skate, Wakeboard: Gear and Accessories

The thrill and action of surf boarding, skate boarding and wake boarding takes skill, practice, and receiving a few bumps and bruises. It also requires good equipment, since no amount of skill can make up for a board past its prime. Choosing the right board is a matter of preference, but there are a couple of things to look for that is common enough to worry about.

Skateboarding –

The most important thing in skate boarding, of course, is appropriate padding and helmets. At minimum, a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads.

Once safety is out of the way, the next most important thing is the skate board. We provide access to Alien Workshop, Birdhouse, DarkStar, Enjoi, Volcom, Zephyr, and many more brands. The basic parts of the skate board are the board itself; the trucks, which connect the wheels to the board; and the wheels and bearings, which is what you roll on. The wheels and bearings are important in their function of providing traction with the ground and preventing friction on the axle. Different wheels and bearings will yield differing performances.

The trucks behave in similar manner to the suspension of a car; they allow the wheels to tilt up and down based upon the ground and users weight. Loose trucks will allow the user to steer more easily, but will react poorly with the ground and make balance more difficult. Stiff trucks are easy to balance on, but take more effort to steer with.

The board itself is where many riders get personal. There are an endless variety of board designs, some collectible, but all of them have in common a couple of features. First, there are the spacing between front and rear trucks. This affects the turning and stability of the board. Then there is the grip tape on the top of the board is what helps the rider keep on the board. This itself can host a number of designs.

Wakeboarding –

This sport is similar to water skiing and surfing, where a single board is rode on the wake behind a power boat. The biggest piece of equipment is of course, the wake board. You can find many brands in our store including: Ronix, Hydroslide, Hyperlite, Liquid Force, and OBrien. Its construction involves a buoyant piece of foam, reinforced with resin and fiberglass. Inserted into the board are a number of screws for mounting fins and foot bindings.

The main re-configurability of the board comes from placement of the bindings and fins, and the board geometry. The boards’ length and width can be chosen to make certain maneuvers easier while others will suffer. Then there is the “rocker,” or the bend in the board from head to toe. The main types of rockers are continuous and 3 stage. A 3 stage is similar to a skate board in the distinct bends at two points in the length, while a continuous rocker appears smooth.

When adjusting the location of the bindings and fins, one has to consider balance and control. Both are affected by choices of the binding locations. The fins determine the ability of the wake board to hold onto the wake. There are a number of different kinds of fins that one can install on their board, and each kind will affect the maneuverability of the board and the ability to do tricks.

Surfing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding

When it comes to surf boarding, there are just as many variations in a surf board as there are in a wake board. The size and shape of the board is important in terms of maneuverability. There are short, medium “fun-” sized, and long surf boards. The composition of the board is also an important factor. Many boards are now made of foam with either a resin and fiberglass or newer epoxy coating.

Accessories for the board include the fins, which may or may not be interchangeable. The leash is what keeps the surfer and board together. It attaches to the riders ankle and prevents the board from straying too far from the rider in the event of a wipe out. Wax and other materials help the rider to stay on the board. In case of colder waters, the surfer may opt to wear a wetsuit and gear appropriate to not suffer from hypothermia.

Whether your favorite hobby is surfing the biggest waves, skating the most exciting tricks or wake boarding with your friends, having the right equipment and gear really does make all the difference.
