Review of the Sunova Nitro, 7S Superfish, Webber Fatburner, and More Surfboards

With thousands of different manufacturers and distributors of surfboards, it can be difficult to learn how to find the best surfboards. After riding some of the best surfboards from the greatest brand names out there, here are some of the best surfboard reviews.

Sunova Nitro –

The Nitro surfboard from Sunova Surfboards is a solidly constructed board, exceeding the claims made by the company. This board offers innovative construction along with high performance design, making the Sunova Nitro an excellent board both for intermediate surfers and advanced level surfers as well.

7S Superfish –

The 7S Superfish is an excellent surfboard no matter what your experience level is, but it is especially useful for newer surfers who are learning to catch waves for the first time. This is a loose and fast board with an innovative step desk design that gives it the same feel as a thinner board, while still being quite maneuverable in many different conditions.

Webber Fatburner –

This board is exceptionally fun in the Florida surf. Find some three foot waves and the fatness of this surfboard will really shine. Obesity does not always have to be a bad thing, and the Fatburner by Webber proves this by catching waves in only two paddle strokes, flying across flat sections as if it had a motor powering it.

Anacapa Pro Standard from Al Merrick –

This is a brilliant white, six foot, one inch squash tail gem of a surfboard that was crafted by one of the greats; Al Merrick. This is an incredible board that packs a serious punch. If you have some decent money to throw toward a board with power and maneuverability beyond your wildest dreams, the Anacapa Pro Standard is the board for you.

9:Fish Grunion –

The 9:Fish Grunion is considered to be a throw back to the surfboards of old. We’re talking about longhaired surfers with serious mustaches. The fish is a short, wide and thick board designed for smaller surfs. If you’re looking for a surfboard with a past, then the 9:Fish Grunion is a good way to go.

Supersoft Soft Beginner’s Surfboard –

Most surfboards have really sharp fins, and most children have really soft heads, meaning that surfing can be a potentially painful endeavor for the beginning surfboard. The Supersoft Soft Beginner Surfboard is excellent at soothing anxious parents who are teaching their children to surf. This is a excellent surfboard for beginning surfers both young and old, but is especially advantageous as an option for younger surfers who are likely to take a lot of tumbles.

Isle Surfboards “Retro Fish” –

The Retro Fish by Isle Surfboards is a 6′ 2″ board with an innovative blend of new school and old school energy and a unique and attractive design. If you are looking for a blazing good time, the Retro Fish is a good way to go. This board is excellent for all levels of expertise and provides for a really smooth ride.

Surfing on a Budget

surfing2Sometimes surfing equipment and surfing apparel can be really expensive, making this a difficult hobby to simply jump into. This is especially true if you are unsure about whether or not you would like to continue surfing. Why should you pay an arm and a leg for equipment that you may not continue to use? It becomes all too easy to spend as much as $800 to $1200 just on a brand new surfboard if you are not being sponsored by someone that’ll offer you a sturdy discount. Surfing gear is also expensive, as a solid wet suit can easily cost as much as $400 dollars. If you are having trouble finding surfing gear at better prices, you may never be able to break into this sport. Here are some price-saving tips that can help you out by lowering the costs associated with surfing.

- * Used Surfboards

Surfboards are capable of being purchased used, and they are still in excellent shape. You can purchase a used surfboard in good shape for a lot less than you would spend if you were buying one for brand new. You can buy a brand new Rusty for around $800, or you can wait for one of them to sell for $300 dollars a few years later, and it will still be in really excellent condition because when people buy a $800 dollar surfboard, they tend not to want to let it get knocked around. That used surfboard will probably also come with a leash when you buy it in a used condition, which is not what you would get it you bought it when it was brand new.

Tip: You can look online to find boards for sale where people go online to sell used surfboards. You may be pleasantly surprised to find out how many bargains are out there simply if you know where to look to find them.

- * Used Wetsuits

Another piece of surfing gear that you should have no trouble saving money on is a wet suit, because many people end up buying a wet suit and then not needing it after a period of time. In other words, if you want to save some money on buying a good wet suit, wait until you can find one that is used and on sale. Used wet suits are capable of going for as little as $10 dollars to $30 dollars. If you buy a used wet suit that is on sale because it has a hole in it then you can simply buy some liquid neoprene and fill it in. Most surf shops are going to have this stocked for you. You may also find a used wet suit simply because it no longer fit its previous owner, which means you can score a totally affordable wet suit, no repairs needed. If you cannot find the liquid neoprene in a local surf shop, check out Lowes or Wal-Mart instead.

Gear Basics for Surfing

surfingSurfing is a sport that does not require the use of a lot of gear, but the gear that you do need is essential. What this means is that it is important that you choose the right gear when it comes to the sport of surfing. There are a number of factors that go into determining that the best surfing gear will be for you, including your level of ability, your location and the climate in your location. A surfboard, a wetsuit and some other accessories are going to be necessary.

There are a wide variety of different surfboards for you to choose from. Long boards, for example, are surf boards that are 9 feet or longer. These are the best types of surfboards for you to choose when you are learning how to surf. They are capable of floating well and they are also capable of catching slow moving waves. Fun boards are shaped much in the same way that long boards are shaped, with wide noses and tails, but they are shorter as they are between 7 feet and 9 feet in length. These are the best boards for long boarders that are trying to move onto something a little smaller, or for full sized adults just beginning to learn how to surf. Fish boards are generally very short in length, but they are wide, which makes them ideal for the progression forward from fun boards. They work especially well in smaller and weaker surfs and they offer a greater amount of maneuverability than fun boards and long boards.

Short boards tend to be best for the more advanced surfers, and they also offer the best level of performance. They also tend to be the hardest surf boards to paddle on, and are not a good surf board for you to learn on. The two main construction types that you can choose from for surf boards are epoxy surf boards and traditional surf boards. Epoxy is quickly becoming popular because it offers a higher level of strength and a longer length, but many of these boards lack the performance and the drive of a standard traditional construction. The fin set up is another consideration that needs to be made when it comes to your surf board. The most popular design may be the tri fin, but there are also twin fin and quad fin set ups which are chosen for fish boards, and single fin set ups that come with long boards.

For colder climates and areas, you are going to need a wet suit. There are two types of wet suits to choose from, a full suit and a spring suit. If the water is sixty degrees Fahrenheit or less, opt for a full suit. You also need a leash for your surfboard and surfboard wax in order to complete your surfing gear kit.
